It is indeed gonna be MAY! I know everyone makes that joke, but whatever. I did not like how quickly April flew by…BUT I am liking all of the exciting new things on the podcast. You have seen some new sponsors and new shows coming in. We are so proud to be promoting shows for The Fabulous Fox, SLSO, The Factory, City Winery STL, and so many more. It feels great bringing music into the show more and more, which has been a goal from day one.

Speaking of goals, we are all set for our events in May! There is a lot happening. Stay informed by visiting our Events page, which is always up to date (at least when I wrote this, it was). See you May 10th and 22nd, and check out the new SLSO shows we are promoting in May!

Also in May, get ready for a lot of TV and film updates as we bring Whatchu Watchin’ back big time. Lots of great spoiler-free reviews are about to drop—be on the lookout. And man, please write a review and share with a friend. It is a really good time to be a subscriber to this podcast. Great podcasts and amazing prizes are on the way!

Have a great May. In St. Louis, it is an awesome time of year, although that crazy humid heat is coming for us, and we all know it. But it feels good to be outside, feel the sun and the wind on your skin, and just keep it moving. That is what I will be trying to do! See you in the next newsletter. Thanks for reading.

April is over, now... It's gonna be Maaaaay.

Okay, now that I have that out of my system—what's up? Scotty Scoop here.

April brought a lot with it. The best film I've seen all year (move to #2 Better Man) was Sinners, and I'm not sure it's going to be topped. There are still some pretty big films coming this year, including Thunderbolts in just a few days.

I also saw the best new series to air this year, and that's The Pitt on Max. All you ER folks better renew that subscription and buckle up for Noah Wyle to take over your life for 15 hours on the shift from hell, running a Pittsburgh ER in a teaching hospital. Holy hell—the drama, the emotion. This has got Emmy written all over it. Can't wait to see this show come back around in the future.

Also got the best anime I've seen so far this year with Solo Leveling Season 2. So much great content. Looking forward to a great May with even more—Andor Season 2, Conan O'Brien Must Go Season 2, Duster, and many others.

As far as films go, we've got some big ones—Thunderbolts that I mentioned earlier, and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning. Karate Kid, Lilo & Stitch, Final Destination (wow, it's 2025, right?) fill out the rest of the month.

Buckle up, folks—there's still a lot going on in 2025. Stay tuned to Mostly Superheroes, and we'll talk about it all!

Hey again, SQUAD! Arena Andy here. Yes, that’s right—the Giggler is gone. I left him in Las Vegas last week upon completion of the trip of a lifetime. My wife, sister, and her fiancé saw Dead & Company at the Las Vegas Sphere, and I am begging you to see any show there that you can. The Grateful Dead cover band jammed for hours, with my jaw on the floor as we traveled from outer space all the way through the band's discography, colorfully displayed on the most massive and immersive screen on Earth. I literally felt like I was in a pocket universe for two hours, and from the looks of it, some of the Dead Heads were actually on another planet as well. :)

This was just an appetizer. With some fortune at the roulette tables (shoutout to number 31), my wife and I secured our seats to WrestleMania 41. I came to see John Cena win his record-breaking 17th title in the same year Peacemaker Season 2 arrives on MAX. I got exactly what I wanted, along with a Randy Orton match (shoutout STL), Becky Lynch’s return, and a Stone Cold Steve Austin appearance. Hearing the glass break for the Texas Rattlesnake’s music was the highlight of the trip for me. And that’s the bottom line, ’cause Arena Andy said so.

There’s no time like playoff hockey, so until further notice, we’ll be cheering on our St. Louis Blues as they march toward another Stanley Cup. Hope to see you all soon at our Screen & Socials, Trivia Bingo at 4 Hands Brewery, or Taps for Team Jakey next month!

It's Sammy Z from Team Jakey! I'm not sure where the month of April went because it absolutely flew by.

We started off strong with the kickoff of Team Jakey as the "Charity on Tap" at Alamo Drafthouse. Reminder: for every pint of City Wide sold at Alamo Drafthouse St. Louis, $1 will be donated to Team Jakey!

We've also been working with our friends at Carrogan Ventures and Carrie Clark Design to really bring Team Jakey to the next level when it comes to our mission, brand, and vision. There are some exciting things to come, and I can't wait.

Outside of that, it's been a quiet but fast month. Trying to get our pool open, but it looks to be including a substantial pool and patio renovation—which is fun, but not fun.

The month is flying by so fast that we have a mountain of shows to catch up on. Your Friends and Neighbors on Apple TV+ (highly recommend), The Last of Us Season 2 on MAX, and I'm hearing so many good things about Andor Season 2 that I may need to open that big ol' can of worms and get back into Star Wars.

Join us for our Taps for Team Jakey event on May 22nd at 4 Hands Brewery in the city—it's going to be big!

Snore score for April: 1/4. Had the potential to be higher, but I went to Game 4 of the Blues/Winnipeg series, and it was CRAZY.
