MAY EPISODES and JUNE MOVIES!

Thunderbolts, Taps for Team Jakey, 2 Rivers Comic Con, and so much more… I am ready for SLEEP! June looks to bring some calm, and then we fire it up in July again for Superman and Fantastic Four: First Steps!

Carrie and I screened The Phoenician Scheme this week at Alamo—the latest from Wes Anderson. We loved it! Just what you’d expect from Wes at this point: the patterns, the dialogue, the callbacks—it was all there, and I enjoyed myself. Carrie gave it a 3.4/4.0, and I give it a 3.1/4.0.

Summer is here, and I need to find a pool and some sun. I challenge you busy bodies out there to slow down, take a breath, and remember all that you accomplished this month, this week, this day—whatever it is, celebrate the win and enjoy your life. We only get one.

That’s it for me this month. Please share with your friends and fam if you’re enjoying the show. See you on the next one! Take it easy.

Hola a todos, Scotty Scoop here, writing this email from the sunny beaches of Cancun, Mexico!

Lots of great stuff happened this month—we got Thunderbolts, Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, and Friendship all in the box office! The show had its first Comic-Con at 2Rivers Comicon, Taps for Team Jakey, and now I'm wrapping up my week-long trip south of the border!

What a great month, and I’m looking forward to June—my favorite month of the year! It’s my birthday this month! Yeah, Logan’s got one too, so that's cool, I guess.

So much to look forward to this month, including How to Train Your Dragon, Ballerina, F1, 28 Years Later, and so much more! Tune in to Mostly Superheroes this month to hear all about it!

Adiós, amigos!

Hey, hey! Hope everyone’s having a great summer so far. Just in the last week, I attended my first comic con (shoutout to James Enstall—this will not be my last), left a corporate job I’d been at for over ten years, and celebrated ten years of being with my better half, Stephanie (this also serves as her official birthday shoutout).

Summer movies are here, and I’ll be seeing them at Alamo Drafthouse at the Big Show, eating Sour Patch Kids and mozzarella sticks until further notice. Throw in a 4 Hands City Wide beer to help out Team Jakey as well—this quarter’s charity on tap.

Take it easy and enjoy your weekend, my friends! Prep your brains—the official Mostly Superheroes Tim Robinson Tribute airs next month. I’m working on some extra-special features and surprises. Don’t miss this one, and please see Friendship in theaters—the most chaotic, awkward, and hilarious movie I’ve seen with my own eyes. Tim gets the screen time I’ve been asking for, and he didn’t disappoint.

Guys, where has May gone!? I feel like it was just yesterday that I was sitting down to write the April newsletter. May has been wild.

Team Jakey had appearances on Fox 2 in the Morning, The More to Say Podcast with Randi Naughton, and we held our first Taps for Team Jakey since COVID at 4 Hands Brewery downtown. The event was an absolute blast—we packed the house at 4 Hands and were able to raise over $2,800! Those of you who made it out, thank you very much for the support; we can't wait to do it again next year!

There's more exciting stuff to come, so stay tuned!

Outside of that, the pops, my son, and I attended the Thunderbolts Screen and Social with Mostly Superheroes a couple of weeks ago. I have to say, I really enjoyed this movie. It should be doing way better at the box office than it is—it’s actually a pretty solid flick! My dad and I loved the unexpected mental health spin/message in the movie.

We're rounding out the month with a good case of croup for our oldest, Ari. No sleep lately, which is fitting for a May Snore Score of 0/4.
